Events

We held the first smart car rally in Idaho on Earth Day, April 22, 2007.  Four smart cars attended, with three from Boise and one from Idaho Falls.  The changing image at the top of this site shows a few of our pictures.  We have had several other gatherings in the Boise area since then.

Past Events:

  • May 22, 2008 - smart car club of Idaho gathering, 6:30pm - 8:00pm, Sonic Drive-In, Orchard and Emerald Streets, Boise - We had 11 smart cars gathered for this event!
  • July 4-6, 2008 - Two of our members attended Northwest Motorfest in Boise.
  • August 24, 2008 - smart car club of Idaho Cruise-In, 4:00pm - 5:30pm, Sonic Drive-In, 2145 Broadway Avenue, Boise. This was also a planning meeting for the Mountain Home Air Force Appreciation Day parade.
  • September 6, 2008 - Three of our smart car members entered in Mountain Home Air Force Appreciation Day parade. Pictures can be found at Tom's pictures.
  • November 29, 2008 - Seven smart cars participated in the Boise Holiday Parade. Pictures and video can be found at Tom's pictures plus a few can be seen above on the rotating banner.
  • May 15, 2009 - May in Motion, 7:30am-1:00pm, 8th St and Bannock, Boise - We had two smart cars on display at this event again this year, the fourth year in a row.
  • June 7, 2009 - smart car cruise.  We met at the Home Depot at 1:00pm in Eagle (State Street and Highway 55) and drove up to Banks, across to Lowman, and back down to Boise, stopping along the way for sight seeing.  We stopped for dinner at Donn's Hilltop Kodiak Grill near Lucky Peak at about 5:30pm.  Six smart cars attended this event, with four of the cars doing the entire 140 mile drive!
  • September 12, 2009 - Two events: Mountain Home Air Force Appreciation Day parade at 10:30am and Sonic Cruise-In from 4:00-6:00pm (Orchard and Emerald in Boise). Contact tom@smartcarclubofidaho.com for more details.
  • November 28, 2009 - Boise Holiday Parade
  • May 16, 2010 - Second Annual "Cruise the Loop" smart car cruise.  We met at the McDonald's at Gowen Rd and Federal Way in Boise at 2:00pm, and left at 2:30pm heading toward Idaho City, Lowman, Garden Valley, Banks, and stop in Horseshoe Bend for dinner, then return to Boise.  This is a beautiful spring cruise of about 140 miles, with plenty of photo opportunities in the mountains and along the Payette River.  Six smart cars attended this cruise this year.
  • May 21, 2010 - May in Motion, 7:30am-10:30am, 8th St and Bannock, Boise - We had the smart car on display at this event again this year, the fifth year in a row!
  • July 3, 2010 - Melba 4th of July Parade at 10:30am. We had two smart cars attend.
  • July 9-11, 2010 - Northwest Motorfest in Boise. One smart car attended.
  • September 11, 2010 - Two smart cars attended the 50th Annual Mountain Home Air Force Appreciation Day parade.
  • October 16, 2010 - Turkey Trot - Annual event organized by the Treasure Valley Mustang and Ford Club to benefit the Idaho Food Bank. It will include a short cruise with a "poker" run, and meet up at the Idaho Food Bank, where raffles will take place. The cost is $15 cash, or 1 case of canned goods. All proceeds benefit the Idaho Food Bank. This is open to all car clubs, everyone is welcome to participate!
  • November 27, 2010 - Three of our smart car members entered in the annual Boise Holiday Parade. Pictures can be found at Tom's pictures.
  • May 15, 2011 - Third Annual "Cruise the Loop" smart car cruise. Four smart cars met at the Home Depot at 1:00pm in Eagle (State Street and Highway 55) and drove up to Banks, across to Lowman, Idaho City, and back down to Boise, stopping along the way for sight seeing.  We stopped for dinner at Trudy's Kitchen in Idaho City.
  • June 17, 2011 - Meridian Dairy Days Parade. We drove the Mayor of Meridian and four of the City Council Member is the parade.
  • July 4, 2011 - Melba 4th of July Parade at 10:30am.
  • September 10, 2011 - 51st Annual Mountain Home Air Force Appreciation Day parade.
